The town of Montlhery is located just 15 miles south of Paris and for such a small place it has very colourful history. Many royals have lived in the old castle and the ownership of the town changed many times during the Hundred Years War. Others have occupied the town most recently the Germans during WWII.
The main attraction is the 13th century Chateau de Montlhery that sits commandingly above the town. It was built on the site of a previous castle and is thought to have a chapel hidden beneath it lower court. Tour de Montlhery is a tower that was built to protect the town from attack.
