Although terminal 1 was indicated on the booking. The rental was booked out of terminal 2. After waiting for 90 mins at terminal 1 we had to then go to terminal 2 to collect the car

Car rental at Pau Rail Station is a great way to explore this beautiful region of France. Pau is the gateway to the beautiful Pyrenees and you are just a short drive from the scenic Pyrenees National Park. The park is open throughout the year and there are more than 350kms of walking and hiking trails in the park. It is also possible to go canoeing and whitewater rafting in the park.

Just south of Pau and easily accessible with cheap car hire at Pau Rail Station is the ski resort of Val d'Azun which is a great place for cross country skiing. Another great place for hiking and skiing is in the Iraty Forest, a lovely forest filled with beech trees and moorland.

Want to do something a little more sedate, there are some great museums in Pau. Visit the Musee des Beaux Arts and the Musee Bernadotte. There are also castles to explore such as Château de Laas where Napoleon stayed after being defeated at Waterloo and the Château de Pau, the birthplace of Henry IV.

Feeling hungry, visit the Fermiers Basco-Bearnais Cheese Centre for the best selection of cows, goats and ewes cheeses in the Pyrenees. Come to Pau in June and July and join in the fun of the Pau Festival. Hotels get busy at this time, so it's a good idea to book in advance.
